Meet Benjamin Turshen
I’m the founder of Solace Estate Planning, where I help families and business owners protect what matters most by avoiding probate, shielding assets from long-term care costs and lawsuits, and ensuring legacies are preserved with clarity and control. My approach combines big-firm expertise with a boutique, family-first philosophy that delivers bespoke strategies, clear communication, and lasting peace of mind.

I began my legal career in 2008, at the height of the financial crisis, at Paul Hastings LLP in New York City in their Investment Management Group, focusing on registered investment funds. I later pivoted to private funds, joining the Private Equity Practice Group at Jones Day and the Asset Management/Alternative Investments Group at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, where I advised institutional investors and fund sponsors including Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, Invesco, The Riverside Company, Edgewater Capital Partners, GIC, and The Cleveland Clinic. My “funds work” has included the formation, fundraising, and operation of U.S. and non-U.S. investment vehicles—including private equity, hedge, real estate, and infrastructure funds, secondaries, funds-of-funds, funds-of-one, mutual funds, ETFs, and unit investment trusts—with combined holdings exceeding $60 billion.
Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to social responsibility, devoting substantial time to pro bono legal work, including representing nonprofit organizations and advocating for marginalized communities.
In addition to my legal practice, I’m the creator of Access Meditation and bring over two decades of experience in health and wellness. I’ve worked with Olympians, professional athletes, Michelin star chefs, Grammy-winning musicians, A-list actors, Fortune 500 executives, and children as young as four years old. My work has been featured in The New York Times, Fast Company, and The Huffington Post, among others.
I earned my B.S., magna cum laude, from Boston University, my M.A. from Columbia University, and my J.D. from St. John’s School of Law. Born and raised in New York City, I’ve called Cleveland, Ohio home since 2018, where I live with my wife, Kaitlin, our daughter, Remy, our son, Louis, and our two rescue huskies, Cato and Duro.
I bring the same values to every endeavor—precision, creativity, and compassion—whether I’m structuring a multi-billion-dollar investment vehicle or creating a bespoke estate plan.
If you’d like to discuss how I can help protect your family, business, or legacy, please feel free to connect or reach out.
